Children's Miracle Network is the national platform for the Miss America Organization.
It's an international non-profit that raises funds for Children's Hospitals and medical research and awareness of children's health issues. They raise close to $250 Million each year, and I know a portion of that comes from the Miss America Organization.
Children's Miracle Network is a wonderful cause that I am very glad to be a participant of via the Miss America Organization. It holds a very special place in my heart because currently my younger cousin is battling cancer.
My cousin Abi was 16 years old when she was diagnosed with leukemia. She lives in Washington state so I am not able to visit her often. However, I had discovered that the Seattle Children's Hospital she was admitted into is in fact a Children's Miracle Network Hospital. I used this as encouragement to raise more money for CMN so even though I could not be with her physically I could still help support her. Every penny raised in my mind was going to young persons like my cousin Abi.
She was in remission for about 5 months and recently found out that she has relapsed. She is an absolutely incredible young woman whom I look up to. After the money I raised last year, Abi told me that she hoped one day she might be able to compete in a local pageant in Washington so she could continue raising money and spreading awareness for children like herself. Until she is healthy enough to do so I will be the one continuing to support her through Children's Miracle Network.
I encourage you to help with the Children's Miracle Network in whatever way you can, and just know that not only are you helping the dreams of children but you are also facilitating the dreams of young women who compete in local, state, and national levels of the Miss America Organization.
You can also help Abi by registering with the National Bone Marrow Registry and find out if you are a bone marrow match for anyone in need of a donation. I am currently signed up and waiting to find out the results if I am a match for Abi or not, so far her siblings and parents are not matches.
